The Objectives of the University
The objective of the University is to develop, promote and advance knowledge and education for the benefit and advancement of mankind in the fields of Science, Engineering & Technology, Maritime Studies, Management, Humanities and Social Sciences, Architecture and Design, Commerce, Dental Sciences, Medical Sciences, Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Allied Health Sciences, Nursing, Sports and Physical Education, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Food Technology, Hotel Management, Hospitality, Tourism, Liberal Arts and other emerging and interdisciplinary areas.
Knowledge Creation and Dissemination
To disseminate, create, preserve and advance knowledge and understanding through teaching, research, training, innovation and extension activities, and through meaningful engagement and positive influence of the University’s academic and corporate life on society at large.
Establishment of Centres and Campuses
To establish and maintain Centres of Excellence, off-campus centres, city campuses and offshore campuses for providing high-quality education, training and research facilities in diverse disciplines including Science, Engineering & Technology, Maritime Studies, Management, Humanities and Social Sciences, Architecture and Design, Commerce, Medical and Health Sciences, Paramedical Sciences, Nursing, Sports Sciences, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Food Technology, Hotel Management, Hospitality and Tourism, and other professional and interdisciplinary fields as may evolve in the future, including continuing education and distance learning programmes.
Academic Programmes and Standards
To design, develop and implement innovative patterns of teaching and learning for Certificate, Diploma, Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral programmes, and to maintain high standards of education, research and professional practice while promoting advancement and upgradation of knowledge across all academic disciplines and allied fields.
Training and Professional Development
To develop training facilities and make arrangements for professional, technical and higher education training programmes, and to promote national and international academic participation, collaboration and exchange in the fields of Science, Engineering & Technology, Management, Health Sciences, Agriculture, Architecture, Social Sciences and other allied disciplines.
Learning Resource Centre
To function as an integrated online and offline learning resource centre facilitating access to knowledge, digital learning, skill development and lifelong education.
Industry and Global Linkages
To establish and strengthen linkages with industry, professional bodies, international institutions and foreign universities to ensure that teaching, research and training activities remain relevant to societal, national and global needs.
National and International Associations
To establish, promote and participate in national and international academic, research and professional associations, collaborations and partnerships for academic excellence, innovation and knowledge exchange.
